Why the HK Investment Visa?

The Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES) was relaunched in 2024 and targets high-net-worth individuals seeking residence in Hong Kong through an investment of at least HKD 30 million.

The investment can be made in approved financial products, real estate (up to HKD 10M), and a New Capital Investment Entrant Fund. After 7 years of continuous residence, you can apply for Permanent Residency.

What investments are allowed?

Approved investments include stocks, bonds, funds, and real estate (up to HKD 10M) as well as the New Capital Investment Entrant Fund.

Do I need to live in Hong Kong?

For renewal, you must demonstrate that Hong Kong is your ordinary place of residence. Occasional visits do not qualify for PR — genuine, continuous residence is required.

Can I get Permanent Residency after 7 years?

PR in Hong Kong requires 7 years of continuous ordinary residence. Investment alone plus occasional visits does not qualify — genuine, continuous residence is required.

Can my family come along?

Yes, spouses and unmarried children under 18 can obtain a Dependent Visa.

What income tax will I pay in Hong Kong?

Hong Kong levies Salaries Tax on Hong Kong-sourced income. There is a standard-rate logic: if the 15% standard rate applied to net income is lower than the progressive rate, the standard rate applies. Capital gains are not taxed.

How long is the CIES visa valid?

The CIES visa has an initial validity of 2 years and can be renewed as long as the investment conditions continue to be met.
